Sherry Buechel is the Rolled Threads Unlimited Office Manager, but that’s not the only title she holds. Sherry is the longest-tenured employee! If you’ve done business with Rolled Threads Unlimited, you have almost certainly talked to Sherry. We are so lucky to have her on our team.
We sat down with her for a few moments and asked some questions.
You have been at Rolled Threads Unlimited from the very beginning. How many years is that? And what has changed over the years?
I have been at Rolled Threads Unlimited since the doors opened 35 years ago in 1985. What has changed? In a word: everything! We started with just four employees: then-owner Jerry Buscher, one machine-set up employee, one machine operator and myself. We now have 30 employees. The biggest change overall would be the improvements in computer technology and the invention of the internet. When I first started, everything was done by hand: job cards, payroll, correspondence by mail, etc. Now, most everything can be handled with a computer, an internet connection and a printer.
What is an important thing that you’ve learned while on the job?
The ability to juggle many responsibilities at once. Like so many employees at growing small businesses, my job requires me to “wear a lot of hats.” On a daily basis I handle payroll, accounts payable and receivable, HR duties, and other office management duties. It keeps me busy!
What do you enjoy most about your job and working at Rolled Threads?
I love the fact that no two days are the same around here. I can’t imagine having to work someplace where monotony of work duties would be the norm.
Tell us something that others may not know about you, professionally or personally or both.
I am thankful to be a part of a very tight-knit family with my husband, three children and eight grandchildren. My favorite place to get away to and visit is Prairie du Chien in western Wisconsin.
Anything else that you’d like to say?
I love it here at Rolled Threads. I like that it is a family-oriented and family-run business. I also like that the work atmosphere is more relaxed and enjoyable than some of the larger corporations I worked for when I first started my career.
